Trump Issues Stark Warning Over South Pars Gas Field
The warning comes after Israel conducted strikes on Wednesday against Iranian facilities within the South Pars field in the Gulf, a massive area spanning nearly 10,000 square kilometers and containing around 1,800 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. In retaliation, Iran targeted a Qatari LNG facility and issued threats to strike additional critical energy infrastructure across the Gulf region.
Reports indicate that the Israeli assault on South Pars may have been planned in coordination with US officials, with some sources suggesting that Washington is more willing to allow attacks on gas sites than oil installations.
However, Trump rejected these claims, posting on Truth Social that “the United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it.” He noted that Iran was unaware of this, which prompted the retaliatory strike on the Qatari facility.
Trump further declared, “NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL” on the “extremely important and valuable South Pars Field.” He also cautioned Tehran that if it were to target Qatar again, the US—independently or alongside Israel—“will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”
